Doing a-lot of thinking about how to eventually introduce employee's to Locanic has led me to create some documents to help people that I have yet to employ, but would love to in the future. Here are a couple of handy-notes for Employers and Team Managers 2023.
First things first.
The ability to work freelance or start a business online is accessible to so many, and yet, pre-covid, people were not being respected for having the ability to leave workplaces and still earn an income online (and potentially higher amounts.) Given that people are currently having work/life balance higher costs, due to socializing outside of work plus maintaining their favourite spending habits to post on their personal social media, people are loving sitting at home and not having to spend on both attending work, making friends there as well as up-keep their private lives. As Covid lockdowns were beginning, I was hoping to get an office space. What self-employed pre-covid, me, learnt is that, the bigger the dream for the business, after a year or two, is that you will likely end-up simply wanting to employ people! That said, Locanic is built to accommodate freelancers and hopefully those who wish to trot the globe for several months of the year.
Tackling female stereotyping
The ability for a woman to treat others at the workplace as if a mother, really depends on her direction or stance about feminism/equality. It's tricky when employee's don't have a right to choose a mentor. Especially if women only mentor while trying to pull you down at the same time.
A modern 'Alpha-Woman' might get to the nitty-gritty of bromance behaviour without apology as a workplace leader, but she wouldn't do it for somebody else. She might love to share her success story, but mentoring or standing up for others without getting noticed would be difficult to do because, she has made it on her own and believes that everybody else should do the same thing too. In other words, she's out for herself as opposed to being an outright feminist.
Whereas a hypothetical equality-maven would make it apart of her day to day to assist people to become apart of the workplace stats quo, and stand up for any issues fitting in if need be. This could get her the nickname of a workplace mother. She'd probably put-forward more group tasks to address causes as opposed to becoming the no.1 at any money-based goal.
Case in point, don't assume that every woman at work, would care if you have a problem at home, wants to talk about feminism, or really wants to care as a mother or a mentor, without getting extra pay or credibility.
Tackling Bromance
Bromance indirectly: Talking to the boss about AFL to dominate the conversation in a room full of people who don't know anything about it.
Bromance indirectly worser- Is a bro in the workplace that discusses tinder dates out loud.
Bromance directly- Is close to sexual harrassment, ie, talking about a women in a sexualised manner with a group of men, while excluding one woman or a group to lessen their ability to contribute to workplace discussion.
